ABBA wants Trump to stop playing their music
Stockholm, September 1 (Hibya) - Swedish band ABBA has joined a group of musicians who have asked former US president and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to stop using their music at campaign events.
ABBA's Dancing Queen and Money, Money, Money were among the hits played at Trump's campaign rally in July.
Universal Music, the streaming company, said it did not give Trump permission to use the band's music and demanded that he stop immediately. ABBA members said they supported the statement.
American musician Jack White announced last week that he would sue Trump for using the White Stripes' song Seven Nation Army at a campaign rally.
Trump's campaign office said he paid for the rights to use their music through his companies BMI and ASCAP.
Lawyers for American singer Beyoncé Knowles sent a letter to Trump's campaign office this summer demanding that Beyoncé's songs be stopped from being used at campaign events.
Beyoncé, who identifies as a Democrat, has given Kamala Harris' campaign office permission to use the song as her official campaign song.
American band Foo Fighters and Canadian singer Celine Dion also voiced their displeasure this summer over their songs being played during Trump's campaign.
