Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares met with his European counterparts in Brussels ahead of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the beginning of the fifth year of the conflict.

On the occasion of the meeting, Albares delivered a message of solidarity with Ukraine, stating, “On the eve of the tragic anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the beginning of the fifth year of aggression, I am attending the FAC event in Brussels.”

Referring to the nature of the attack and its meaning for Europe, Albares said, “Spain and the EU support the Ukrainian people in this struggle against an unjust and unjustified aggression, which also constitutes an attack on European values.”
