Aliyev: We hope Trump's historic efforts will be recognized in the Nobel Peace Prize decision
Baku, October 9 (Hibya) – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan and Armenia jointly nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his contributions to the peace process between the two countries.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that US President Donald Trump played a "historic role" in advancing peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the Washington Peace Summit, which he hosted on August 8, 2025.
Aliyev said, "In recognition of his outstanding contribution, at my initiative, Azerbaijan and Armenia jointly nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize."
Referring also to Trump's efforts to secure lasting peace in the region, Aliyev said, "We sincerely hope that President Trump's historic efforts to ensure lasting peace in our region will receive the recognition they deserve in this year's Nobel Peace Prize decision."
