Allegations Regarding UNRWA to Be Investigated by Independent Review Group
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed an independent review group to investigate allegations regarding the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini welcomed the appointment of an independent review group to assess how UNRWA ensures its neutrality and responds to serious allegations of violations.
Lazzarini expressed eagerness to learn of the results and recommendations that will be made public, stating, "This independent external review will be conducted in parallel with an ongoing investigation by the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services."
