Ghebreyesus: We are facing one of the most dangerous viruses in the world
Geneva, October 21 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the world is facing one of the most dangerous viruses.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus said that he returned from Kigali in the morning and witnessed Rwanda's response to the Marburg outbreak firsthand.
Ghebreyesus expressed his satisfaction that no new cases or deaths have been reported in the last six days, noting that the outbreak is being managed under strong leadership.
He emphasized that the world is facing one of the most dangerous viruses, saying:
"Continuous vigilance is essential. WHO will continue to support the government. Enhanced surveillance, contact tracing, and infection prevention and control measures must continue on a large scale until the outbreak ends."
