Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand issued a statement regarding Russia's attacks on civilians and diplomatic missions, as well as the violation of the sovereignty of NATO ally Romania.

Highlighting the destruction caused by the attacks and the violations of international law, Anand said, "Russia's indiscriminate attacks against Ukraine continue to inflict devastating human suffering. The latest attack on Sloviansk killed and injured civilians, and also damaged the Honorary Consulate of Latvia, one of Canada's closest allies. Deliberately targeting civilians and diplomatic buildings is a clear violation of international law."

Referring to the airspace violation, Anand stated, "This coincides with yet another violation of Romanian airspace by an unmanned aerial vehicle, which constitutes an unacceptable breach of the sovereignty and security of a NATO ally."

Concluding her statement with a message of Canada's determination, Anand said, "Canada unequivocally condemns these actions. Russia must be held fully accountable. Canada will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and our allies in defending sovereignty, freedom, and a just and lasting peace."
