Baqaei: Has Rubio forgotten Trump's words?
Tehran, October 25 (Hibya) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei compared US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's remarks about attacks on ships with US President Donald Trump's earlier comparison to piracy.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei criticized remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio accusing Iran of attacking ships.
Quoting Rubio as saying, “We haven't seen anything like this since World War II and the Caribbean pirates,” Baqaei recalled a statement made by US President Donald Trump on May 1, 2026, concerning the seizure of commercial vessels and oil shipments.
Baqaei pointed out that Trump had said in that statement, “We're like pirates. In a way, we are pirates,” and criticized Rubio for apparently forgetting those words. Baqaei indicated that Rubio's remarks contradicted Trump's earlier statements.
