Borrell: EU ready to continue supporting Georgia
Brussels, May 15 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell stated that the European Union is ready to continue supporting Georgians working towards a European future.
Borrell emphasized that the Georgian people support their democratic choice and Georgia's European future, stating, "Threats, intimidation, and physical attacks against civil activists, politicians, journalists, and their families are unacceptable. Georgian authorities should investigate these actions."
Despite protests and calls from the international community, Borrell noted that the Georgian government continues to enforce the law on "transparency of external influence," continuing his statement:
"Adopting this law negatively impacts the country's progress towards the EU. We call on Georgian authorities to withdraw this law. The EU is ready to continue supporting Georgians working towards a European future."
