Sofia, October 23 (Hibya) - Bulgaria's National Council for Tripartite Cooperation discussed a proposal to raise the minimum wage to 660 euros starting January 1, 2027. The proposal also includes increasing the hourly minimum wage to 3.88 euros.
Bulgaria's National Council for Tripartite Cooperation discussed a draft proposal to increase the minimum wage for 2027. Under the proposal, the monthly minimum wage would rise to 660 euros as of January 1, 2027, while the hourly minimum wage would increase to 3.88 euros.
Bulgarian Minister of Labour and Social Policy Natalia Efremova stated that the proposed increase had been prepared taking into account the country's economic conditions and the capacity of the state budget. Efremova said the increase would raise the incomes of approximately 462,000 people earning the minimum wage.
Efremova announced that the minimum wage was expected to increase by 39.80 euros, or 6.4 percent, in 2027. The minister noted that the measure was intended to help preserve workers' purchasing power.
Following the discussions, the proposal will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for consideration.
