Cassis: The spirit of Geneva should guide our work more than ever
Geneva, February 23 (Hibya) – Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, speaking at the opening of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council, emphasized that human rights are a fundamental guide at a time of rising global tensions.
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis addressed the 61st session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva.
Highlighting the importance of the Council, Cassis said, “At the opening of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, I reminded that in a fragmented and tense world, human rights are not a luxury but our compass.”
Emphasizing credibility and effectiveness, Minister Cassis stated, “To preserve our credibility, we must be open, disciplined and aim to create a real impact.”
Sharing his vision regarding the Council’s founding purpose and future, Cassis added, “Twenty years after its establishment, the Council must be a true place of dialogue and be able to act in the face of crises. The spirit of Geneva must guide our work more than ever.”
