CENTCOM: Claims of escorting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz are false
Washington, May 26 (Hibya) - The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) denied reports claiming that the U.S. Navy had resumed escorting commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM issued a statement regarding claims recently reported by some media outlets.
The statement said that reports claiming the U.S. Navy had resumed escorting or assisting commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz were “false.”
CENTCOM stated, “Operation Freedom has not resumed, and U.S. forces are not currently escorting commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.”
