Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic received Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), at the Banski Dvori government building. The meeting focused on further strengthening the partnership between Croatia and the FAO.

Commenting on the meeting, Plenkovic said the Croatian government continues its efforts to strengthen the resilience of agriculture and rural areas, food security and generational renewal.

Plenkovic welcomed the establishment in Split of the Subregional Technical Office for the Adriatic subregion of the FAO General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM), noting that this represents important support for Croatia’s regional role.

Plenkovic said food security is one of the key priorities of Croatia’s international development cooperation, adding that Croatia was among the first countries to provide 1 million euros in support for the demining of agricultural land in Ukraine and would continue contributing to global food security.
