Costa: Egypt is a strategic partner for the EU and a pillar of regional stability
Brussels, 16 June (Hibya) - European Council President Antonio Costa discussed developments in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Iran in his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
European Council President Costa held a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi during the G7 Evian summit.
Costa said Egypt is a strategic partner for the European Union and an important pillar of regional stability.
The meeting addressed the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as recent developments in Lebanon and Iran.
Costa thanked Egypt for its mediation efforts and stressed that the EU is ready to cooperate in implementing peace plans and supporting a just and lasting peace.
It was noted that both sides agree on the importance of political solutions based on international law to achieve peace and prosperity in the region.
