Costa: Houthi attacks must stop immediately
Brussels, October 27 (Hibya) - European Council President Antonio Costa stated that intensifying conflicts in Yemen are deepening the humanitarian crisis and reiterated his support for the Yemeni government. Costa called on the Houthis to halt their attacks and return to negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations (UN).
During his meeting with Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, European Council President Antonio Costa conveyed the European Union's solidarity with the Yemeni government and its support for efforts to restore peace and stability in the country.
Costa stated that they condemn Houthi attacks within Yemen, against Saudi Arabia and against vessels in the Red Sea. Calling on the Houthis to immediately halt their attacks, de-escalate tensions and return to UN-sponsored negotiations, Costa emphasized that lasting peace in Yemen can only be achieved through an inclusive political solution.
