Costa: I welcome the announcement of a ceasefire in the Middle East
Brussels, April 8 (Hibya) – President of the European Council Antonio Costa stated that he welcomes the announcement of a two-week ceasefire in the Middle East and called on all parties to take responsibility for achieving lasting peace in the region.
President of the European Council Antonio Costa made a statement regarding the agreement reached to reduce tensions in the region and the mediation efforts.
Evaluating the ceasefire as a positive development, Costa said: “I welcome the announcement of a two-week ceasefire in the Middle East. I call on all parties to comply with its terms in order to achieve sustainable peace in the region.”
Emphasizing the European Union’s support for the process and diplomatic contacts, Costa stated: “The EU is ready to support ongoing efforts and remains in close contact with its partners in the region.”
Costa also thanked Pakistan and other parties that assumed a mediation role.
