Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Czech President Petr Pavel commented on social media about tensions in the Chamber of Deputies. He urged politicians to set aside emotional reactions, return to discussions focused on substantive issues and comply with parliamentary rules. Pavel also called for the restoration of basic respect between the government and the opposition.

Highlighting the importance of democratic conduct and political courtesy, Pavel stated that the public also expected such behavior from politicians.

Pavel criticized the manner in which a bill concerning public broadcasting was being considered. He said that unexpectedly placing the bill on the agenda and holding a vote late at night over the weekend undermined confidence in the intentions of those who drafted the legislation and raised serious questions.

Describing public broadcasters as one of the fundamental pillars of democracy, Pavel emphasized the need for extensive discussions involving experts and the public before introducing major changes. He warned against rushing into irreversible decisions and stressed the importance of clear regulations guaranteeing media independence in terms of both editorial content and financing.

Pavel stated that Czechia was one of the few countries in Central and Eastern Europe with a well-functioning system of public broadcasting and private media. He said that if changes to the existing system were being considered, the process should be informed, professional, careful and transparent.
