Elections concluded in the Central African Republic
Bangui, December 30 (Hibya) — Approximately 2.3 million registered voters cast their ballots in the presidential, legislative, regional and local elections held in the Central African Republic.
According to CCTV, a total of seven candidates are competing in the presidential race, including incumbent President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, who has been in office since 2016 and is seeking a third term.
Touadéra’s rivals include Anicet-Georges Dologuélé and Henri-Marie Dondra, both former prime ministers.
According to the electoral calendar, the final results of the presidential election are expected to be announced on January 20, 2026, while the final results of the other elections will be made public between February 24 and March 18.
If none of the candidates secures an absolute majority, a second round of elections will be held between the two candidates who receive the highest number of votes.
