European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen published a message of solidarity regarding the ongoing wildfires in Spain.

In a post on her social media account, von der Leyen said she was deeply saddened by the wildfire reports coming from different parts of Spain, particularly Almería.

Expressing her condolences to those who lost their lives in the fires and to their families, von der Leyen stressed that the European Union stands with Spain during this difficult time.

Highlighting the dedicated efforts of firefighters and rescue teams battling the blazes, von der Leyen said, "Our full support remains with Spain and the brave firefighters and rescuers confronting this emergency."

The President of the European Commission also noted that, in addition to Spain, they are closely monitoring developments in other countries affected by the wildfires and remain in constant contact with the relevant authorities.
