China's National Immigration Administration released border crossing data for the first half of 2026. According to the figures, the number of entries and exits processed at border checkpoints nationwide reached 208.44 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 17.1 percent.

The number of vehicles passing through border checkpoints also increased during the same period. According to the data, 490,000 aircraft, 56,000 trains, 229,000 ships, and 20.068 million motor vehicles entered or exited through the country's border crossings. Air traffic increased by 1 percent year-on-year, rail traffic by 5.7 percent, maritime traffic by 4.6 percent, and motor vehicle traffic by 17.8 percent.

The National Immigration Administration also reported that during the first six months of the year it issued 10.392 million ordinary passports to mainland Chinese residents and 49.585 million travel permits for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, and Taiwan.

In addition, 1.141 million entry permits were issued for residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan to visit mainland China, while 991,000 visas and various entry permits were issued to foreign nationals during the same period.
