Fletcher: 60,000 people displaced by clashes in Chad
New York, August 4 (Hibya) - United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher announced that 60,000 people, most of them women and children, have been displaced due to armed clashes in Chad's Lac region.
United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said that 60,000 people, the majority of them women and children, have been forced to flee their homes because of armed clashes in Chad's Lac region.
Fletcher announced that $3 million has been allocated from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to provide emergency healthcare, nutrition support, and protection services.
He stressed in his statement that humanitarian assistance must reach those in need as quickly as possible.
