Fletcher: Humanitarian aid efforts for earthquake victims continue in Venezuela
New York, July 10 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said that following the earthquake in Venezuela, the focus has shifted from search and rescue operations to supporting those affected, adding that humanitarian teams continue to work in a coordinated manner.
United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher made a statement regarding the humanitarian operations being carried out following the earthquake in Venezuela.
In a post on social media, Fletcher said that after the completion of search and rescue operations, the priority is now to provide support to people affected by the earthquake.
Fletcher stated that humanitarian organizations are working in a coordinated and prioritized manner, adding that around 2,000 people have received assistance at a relief center in La Guaira, Venezuela.
"Humanitarian teams are working in a coordinated manner to support those affected during the difficult period following the earthquake," Fletcher said.
