Fletcher: Killing of 9 aid workers in Zamzam camp is a betrayal of the rules of war
New York, April 12 (Hibya) – UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher emphasized that the killing of 9 Relief International aid workers in the besieged Zamzam camp in Darfur is a betrayal of the rules of war.
Fletcher expressed outrage over the killing, saying: “My heart is with their families and colleagues.”
He underlined that the attack constitutes a serious breach of the rules of war: “Humanitarian workers must always be protected. They are not a target.”
