European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said, “Guarantee freedom of speech. Protect journalists. Safeguard democracy,” emphasizing that journalists must be able to work free from threats and pressure.

The Office of the President of Montenegro stated that media freedom is the foundation of a democratic state, highlighting the importance of journalists working without fear and pressure and citizens having access to accurate information.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a message: “We salute the brave journalists who risk everything to bring us the truth.”

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said, “A free press is the oxygen of a free society,” calling for an end to pressure on journalists.

In another statement, the Dutch Foreign Ministry, as a member of the Media Freedom Coalition, underlined the vital role of journalists, especially in conflict situations, and emphasized the importance of free media for peace.

The European Parliament reiterated its commitment by stating, “There is no democracy without media freedom.”

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna noted that journalists are on the front lines of truth and stressed the need to protect a pluralistic and strong public space against disinformation.
