Greece calls for international action on Sudan
Berlin, April 15 (Hibya) – Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Gerapetritis called for an end to the conflict, the establishment of humanitarian corridors, and additional aid at the Sudan conference held in Berlin.
Speaking at the 3rd International Humanitarian Conference on Sudan in Berlin, Greek Foreign Minister Gerapetritis expressed concern over the deepening conflict in Sudan.
He stated that the war in Sudan has turned into a severe humanitarian crisis and stressed the need to respect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In his speech, he called for the creation of corridors to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, the safe return of displaced civilians, and the development of predictable financing mechanisms for local actors.
He also highlighted the importance of protecting critical infrastructure, noting that attacks on such facilities constitute serious violations of international law.
Gerapetritis announced that Greece has pledged an additional €1 million in humanitarian aid to Sudan and called on the international community to create the conditions necessary for a political solution.
