Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris made a statement regarding cooperation with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.

Harris stated that relations between Ireland and the United Kingdom became stronger during Starmer’s tenure. He noted that both sides had agreed to reshape the relationship and that this process was built on the foundations of peace, prosperity, mutual respect, and friendship.

In his statement, Harris said: “Together, we agreed to reset this relationship. We built it on peace, prosperity, mutual respect and friendship. We continued to fulfill the responsibility we share as co-guarantors of the Good Friday Agreement.”

Ireland and the United Kingdom are among the joint guarantors of the Good Friday Agreement, which forms the foundation of the peace process in Northern Ireland.
