Harris: We must see urgent de-escalation steps from Israel and Iran
Dublin, June 19 (Hibya) – Irish Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris said urgent de-escalation steps must be taken by Israel and Iran, warning that the risk of a serious escalation in the region is extremely real and concerning.
Deputy PM Harris emphasized the need for immediate action from Israel and Iran to de-escalate tensions.
“The parties must step back from the brink,” he said. “Today I spoke with the Foreign Ministers of Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The risk of a serious escalation in the region is very real and deeply troubling.”
Harris said they would not allow the growing crisis to overshadow the horror unfolding in Gaza, adding:
“The humanitarian catastrophe there is unimaginable. Thousands of innocent children are starving, suffering, and dying. We must not look away — and we will not.”
