Heavy snowfall hits Toronto
Ottawa, January 16 (Hibya) – A powerful winter storm that swept through Toronto and surrounding areas on Thursday led to school closures and transportation disruptions due to heavy snowfall and reduced visibility.
According to CCTV, the strong winter storm that affected Toronto and its surroundings on Thursday caused schools to close and disrupted transportation as visibility dropped because of heavy snowfall.
Meteorological authorities warned that intense snowfall would significantly reduce visibility. Local transportation officials reported that many roads were completely closed and that services on major surface transport routes continued at reduced speeds due to the storm.
Officials at Toronto Pearson International Airport said on Thursday that air traffic control measures were implemented due to adverse weather conditions, affecting numerous arriving and departing flights. In addition, some school boards in Toronto suspended classes entirely, while others opted for partial closures due to the storm.
