The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that operations carried out in the central and northern Gaza Strip killed a Hamas Nukhba unit team leader along with two other members said to have served in the group's air unit and military intelligence.

According to the IDF, an airstrike carried out earlier this week in central Gaza killed Muhend Asad Mahmoud Abu Ghazal, identified as a Hamas Nukhba unit team leader.

The statement said Abu Ghazal had participated in the October 7, 2023 attack on the Kisufim area, adding that "the IDF eliminated the leader of the Hamas terrorist organization's Nukhba unit team that raided the Kisufim area on October 7, along with other terrorists."

The Israeli military also said that another airstrike carried out on Thursday in northern Gaza killed Raid Hani Mohammed Amtsi, who it said was involved in surveillance activities within Hamas' air unit.

The same strike also killed Nebahen Mohammed Nebahen Amtsi, whom the IDF identified as the head of the military intelligence department of Hamas' Gaza Brigade.

The IDF alleged that the individuals had been planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, stating that the airstrikes were "precisely carried out to eliminate the threat."

The IDF also said that units under the Southern Command will remain deployed in the area in accordance with existing agreements and that operations against immediate threats will continue.
