According to CCTV, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it had carried out airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled military sites in Yemen's Red Sea province of Hodeidah.

In a statement, the Coalition Joint Forces Command said the operation was conducted in response to Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki accused the Houthis of threatening freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, one of the world's most important maritime trade routes, adding that the latest operation did not target Hodeidah Port and that all Yemeni ports remain fully operational.

Meanwhile, the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television channel claimed that the Saudi strikes targeted Kamaran Island in the Red Sea and telecommunications facilities in Hodeidah.

Yemen's official Saba News Agency also reported that several locations in southern Saudi Arabia came under attack on the same day. Footage released by the agency showed thick plumes of smoke rising from the affected areas after the attacks.

Saudi Civil Defense authorities also issued a "possible danger" warning on Saturday for residents of the port city of Yanbu. The warning was lifted after the threat had passed.

On Monday, the Houthi administration announced that it would impose a naval blockade on Saudi maritime shipping and warned that international maritime trade linked to Saudi ports could also become a target.

The Houthis also claimed on Thursday that they had attacked two Saudi oil tankers sailing in the Red Sea with missiles and drones, alleging that the vessels had violated shipping restrictions.
