According to CCTV, the ministry stated that the main reason for the increase in the cumulative figures was the integration on Wednesday of the databases from the eastern provinces of Ituri and North Kivu into the national system, meaning the figures do not reflect only the new cases reported in the past 24 hours.

According to the data, 97 new cases and 62 deaths were recorded on Wednesday. A total of 519 patients have recovered, while 722 patients remain under treatment and in isolation.

Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka, who visited Kisangani, the capital of Tshopo Province, which has been affected by the outbreak, said that most patients seek medical care only after developing advanced symptoms, making treatment more difficult.

Tuluka added that public information and awareness campaigns would be intensified to ensure that suspected cases gain access to medical assistance at an earlier stage.
