Iran condemns mosque attack in Syria
Tehran, December 27 (Hibya) – Iran condemned the terrorist attack targeting the Imam Ali bin Abu Talib Mosque in Syria’s Homs province.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bekai said that many worshippers were killed and injured in the attack, stating that they “strongly” condemn it.
Bekai conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled stance against all forms of terrorism and violent extremism, Bekai said that illegal interventions, including violations of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the occupation of parts of the country, pave the way for the persistence and spread of terrorism.
He also called for the perpetrators and instigators of the heinous terrorist attack to be identified and punished, stressing the responsibility of Syria’s transitional government in this regard.
