Amsterdam, June 27 (Hibya) – Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten said in a statement marking Veterans Day that veterans have made significant sacrifices for peace and security, stressing that greater investment in defense is needed.
Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten said in a statement issued on the occasion of Veterans Day (Op Veteranendag) that veterans have made significant sacrifices to ensure that people can live in peace and security.
Jetten stated that serving in operational areas cannot be fully understood by those on the outside, adding that the bond among service members creates a strong sense of solidarity and belonging.
Noting that defense has not received sufficient investment for many years, Jetten said these shortcomings must be addressed in light of the current security environment and that steps are already being taken in that direction.
Prime Minister Jetten also emphasized the importance of veterans sharing their experiences with society, highlighting the need for society to act in unity when facing potential crises.
