Kallas: The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela
Brussels, January 3 (Hibya) – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas said she had held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the ambassador in Caracas.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas said she had spoken with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the ambassador in Caracas. Noting that the EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela, Kallas said:
“The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr. Maduro lacks legitimacy and has advocated a peaceful transition. Under all circumstances, the principles of international law and the UN Charter must be respected. We call for restraint.”
Kallas also added that the safety of EU citizens in the country is their top priority.
