Kremlin: Russia's operation in Kursk is in the final stage
Moscow, March 13 (Hibya) - According to Russian media citing Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Russia's operation to remove Ukrainian forces from the western Russian region of Kursk has entered its final stage.
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Kursk on Wednesday for the first time since Ukrainian forces took control of some territories in the region.
The news came after U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that negotiators were going "immediately" to Russia to discuss a possible ceasefire with Ukraine, following Kyiv's acceptance of a 30-day truce.
Trump did not provide further details, but the White House later said that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, would visit Moscow this weekend.
Trump did not say when he would meet Putin again, but added, "I hope there will be a ceasefire." The U.S. President stated: "Now the decision is up to Russia."
