Lazzarini: No humanitarian aid has entered Gaza for over 3 weeks
New York, March 27 (Hibya) – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini provided an update on the current situation in Gaza.
Lazzarini stated that no humanitarian aid has entered Gaza for more than three weeks.
He noted that this is the longest period without supplies since the war began: “During the ceasefire, 500–600 trucks entered daily. Now – nothing.”
He highlighted that parents cannot find food for their children: “Patients are without medication. Prices are rising. As hunger increases, so does the risk of disease.”
Lazzarini added that Israeli bombardments are ongoing:
“Last week was reported as the deadliest day in the 1.5-year-long war, with over 500 people killed, including women and children. Eight more UNRWA staff members were also killed. People are still searching for safety. Over 140,000 people have fled due to Israeli evacuation orders.”
He stressed the need to lift the blockade and reopen crossings for regular flow of humanitarian and commercial goods: “All hostages must be released. Bombing must stop, and the ceasefire must be renewed.”
