Macron and Barzani hold a phone call
Paris, March 28 (Hibya) - French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack in Duhok during a phone call with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani and expressed support for Iraq.

Macron described the attack targeting Barzani’s residence in Duhok as “unacceptable” and conveyed his support. The discussion also highlighted the recent increase in attacks against institutions in Iraq. In this context, he extended his condolences to Barzani over the attack that resulted in the deaths of six Peshmerga members during the week.
The French President emphasized that the sovereignty of Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region as part of it, is of vital importance for regional stability. Macron warned that the current tensions should not drag Iraq into a wider conflict and called on all parties to exercise restraint.
Macron also stated that France will continue to stand by its Iraqi partners.
