In his message, Macron said: "Fifty years ago, the Lebanese civil war began. On this sorrowful anniversary, I pay tribute to all the victims of this horrific conflict – those who died, those who are missing, and those who were exiled. Today, Lebanon can emerge from 'other people's wars' and build peace and lasting reconciliation guaranteed by a strong and sovereign state. France stands with Lebanon and its people on this path."
