President Macron held a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Macron said they decided to strengthen relations between the two countries through ambitious and structured projects, adding: “This historic rapprochement, which we are continuing to prepare, will materialize during our official visit to Indonesia at the end of May. We aim to strengthen our ties in defense, economy, science, and culture, and to develop our academic exchanges.”

Macron stated that France and Europe wish to build the economy of the future with Indonesia by creating resilient value chains in the critical metals sector and supporting the energy transition.

Finally, Macron noted that they share the same desire for peace and security in the Middle East and to end Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, saying: “We will work together until the Gaza Conference in June. The future is built on strong partnerships, open trade, and a shared vision.”
