The poll shows that only 25 percent of Americans support the U.S. effort to take control of Danish territory. Even the president’s supporters are nearly evenly divided;

Fifty percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents support the move, while 50 percent oppose it. Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents strongly oppose the step; overall, 94 percent oppose it, including 80 percent who strongly oppose it. Nearly six in ten Americans are concerned that Trump has gone too far in his efforts to expand U.S. power over other countries. Only one-third believe his efforts are justified.
