Rome, September 3 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commemorated General Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa on the 44th anniversary of his death. Dalla Chiesa was killed in a mafia assassination in Palermo on September 3, 1982.

In a post on social media, Meloni recalled that dalla Chiesa was killed together with his wife Emanuela Setti Carraro and police officer Domenico Russo.
Meloni said Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa dedicated his life to the state, noting that the general first fought terrorism and then organized crime.
Meloni said dalla Chiesa continued to carry out his duty while paying the highest price, adding that he embodied courage, a sense of duty and love for Italy without ever backing down.
Meloni noted that dalla Chiesa continued his struggle despite knowing that he was a target.
Meloni said commemorating dalla Chiesa does not only mean honoring a hero of the state, but also remembering the responsibility owed to those who fight the mafia and defend the rule of law.
Meloni emphasized in her statement that “those who fight the mafia every day, defend legality and serve the nation must never be left alone.”
Meloni concluded her message by saying that Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa and those who gave their lives to defend their country will not be forgotten.
