German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Germany and South Korea are democracies capable of defending themselves, noting that both countries understand how painful it is to live in a divided nation.
Merz said that he and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung had taken bilateral relations to a new level, adding that the two countries would become strategic partners in security, trade and artificial intelligence.
