Middle Eastern markets decline, led by Qatar
Istanbul, October 9 (Hibya) – Middle Eastern financial markets traded lower amid selling pressure, with the sharpest declines among the region's major indices recorded on the Qatari and Saudi Arabian stock exchanges.
Investors' cautious stance and predominantly selling-oriented transactions in Middle Eastern equity markets pushed share prices lower. Qatar's QE General index ended the day with a sharp decline of 2.21% at 9,005.61 points, making it the region's worst-performing market.
The Saudi Tadawul All Share index, representing the stock exchange with the region's highest trading volume, also fell 1.57% to 10,376.28 points. In the United Arab Emirates, the DFM General index (Dubai) lost 1.67%, while Israel's TA 35 index declined 0.16%. Despite the widespread selling pressure across the region, Kuwait's Premier Market index managed to outperform, rising 0.15% to reach 9,063.91 points.
