Mixed performance in Asia-Pacific stock markets
Istanbul, September 24 (Hibya) – Asia-Pacific stock markets were generally under selling pressure in the new trading day, while markets in Japan and South Korea diverged positively.
A mixed and predominantly negative trend stood out among indices in the Asia-Pacific region. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index rose 1.33 percent to 65,882.00 points, becoming the region’s best-performing major index of the day. In South Korea, the KOSPI index gained 0.90 percent to 7,080.92 points. Malaysia’s KLCI index also recorded a limited increase of 0.12 percent, trading at 1,678.51 points.
In contrast, selling pressure prevailed in other regional markets. In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 index fell 0.74 percent to 8,700.60 points, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index declined 0.66 percent to 24,670.00 points.
In India, the Nifty 50 index fell 0.92 percent to 23,231.95 points, while Indonesia’s IDX Composite index dropped 0.98 percent to 6,312.16 points. In China, the FTSE China 50 index lost 0.58 percent to 15,627.08 points, while Thailand’s SET index declined 0.24 percent to 1,606.90 points.
No trading took place in Sri Lanka’s CSE All-Share index, leaving it unchanged.
