Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Attacks on farmers in the West Bank are war crimes
Ramallah, October 7 (Hibya) - The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned attacks on Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest in the occupied West Bank, saying the attacks constitute war crimes.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned an attack on farmers harvesting olives in the West Bank towns of Burqa and Ramin.
The ministry said 44-year-old Ali Hasan Yusr al-Bazari was killed in the attack, more than 20 people were injured and some of the wounded were in serious condition.
The statement argued that shooting at farmers, beating them, preventing them from accessing their land and attacking medical teams trying to assist the wounded constitute war crimes. It said three medical workers and one volunteer were detained, ambulance keys were confiscated and the teams were forced to leave the area.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to protect the Palestinian people and ensure that those responsible for the attacks are held accountable.
