Prevot: Belgium strongly condemns these indiscriminate attacks
Brussels, May 15 (Hibya) - Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot made a statement regarding the extensive air attacks carried out by Russia.
Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot condemned Russia’s latest attacks against Ukraine and stated that his country’s support for Ukraine continues.
Drawing attention to the scale of the attacks and their humanitarian consequences, Prevot said, “Last night, Russia launched 1,560 drones and 56 missiles against Ukraine. This was one of the most devastating attacks since the beginning of the war. Homes in Kyiv were destroyed. A school was demolished. Energy infrastructure was targeted.”
Stating that Russia’s attacks were deliberate, Prevot said, “At least 5 civilians were killed, dozens were injured, and people are still trapped under the rubble. A UN humanitarian aid vehicle was deliberately struck twice in Kherson.”
Emphasizing the obstacles to the peace process, Prevot said, “Days after the ceasefire proposal, Russia responded with terror. Therefore, no one should ask where the obstacle to peace lies.”
Reiterating Belgium’s position, Prevot concluded his statement by saying, “Belgium strongly condemns these indiscriminate attacks. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families. Our support for Ukraine is unwavering.”
