Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot made statements following his visit to Beirut, assessing the tensions in Lebanon.

Prevot described the Lebanese government’s proposal to hold official negotiations with Israel for lasting peace as an important step, emphasizing determination to disarm Hezbollah.

Pointing to the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, Prevot said more than one million people have been displaced due to Israeli attacks. He added: “The attacks launched by Hezbollah against Israel with support from Iran must be condemned. Israel’s disproportionate response that threatens Lebanon’s territorial integrity is also unacceptable.”

Prevot stressed that the solution must be diplomatic, stating: “Diplomacy must prevail over weapons.” He also noted that the ceasefire being negotiated between the United States and Iran should include Lebanon as well, which is critical for reducing regional tensions.

He stated that he held meetings in Beirut with the President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of Parliament, adding that Belgium’s support for the Lebanese people will continue and that additional aid is on the agenda.

Prevot highlighted that hundreds of civilians have been killed in recent attacks and stressed that Europe’s call to reduce tensions has become more urgent than ever.
