Qatar reiterates commitment to combating drug trafficking and corruption
Doha, October 9 (Hibya) - Qatar reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and corruption, increasing transparency and strengthening international cooperation during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amna Abdulla Salatt, Third Secretary at Qatar’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN), outlined her country’s work in the areas of crime prevention, criminal justice and international drug control in remarks to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly.
Salatt highlighted Qatar’s cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), noting that the Regional Centre for Combating Cybercrime established in Doha contributes to international efforts. She also said Qatar signed the UN Convention against Cybercrime in October 2025 and ratified it in February 2026.
The statement also recalled Qatar’s participation in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Abu Dhabi in September-October 2026, as well as its hosting of a conference on combating corruption in December 2025. Through these efforts, Qatar aims to strengthen international cooperation, technical support and the use of artificial intelligence in combating corruption.
