The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the United States carried out an armed attack against Venezuela in the morning hours, stating that this development is extremely alarming and should be condemned.

The statement said that the arguments put forward to legitimize such actions are groundless, and that ideological hostility and short-term pragmatism hinder the establishment of trust-based and predictable relations.

It was emphasized that at the current stage, the most important priority is to prevent further escalation and to find a way out through dialogue, noting that all possible disagreements between the parties should be resolved through dialogue. Russia stated that it is ready to support initiatives in this direction.

Russia stressed the need to preserve Latin America’s status as a “zone of peace,” declared in 2014, calling for the avoidance of destructive military methods based on external intervention and for ensuring the Venezuelan people’s right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, it was noted that constant contact is being maintained with the Venezuelan authorities and Russian citizens in the country, and that so far there is no information about Russian citizens being harmed.
