Russia–GECF meeting focuses on energy cooperation and global markets
St. Petersburg, June 5 (Hibya) - Sergey Lavrov discussed energy markets, natural gas cooperation, and the global energy crisis during a meeting with Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Secretary-General Philip Mshelbila.
Lavrov met with Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Secretary-General Philip Mshelbila on the sidelines of the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation among natural gas-producing countries and positioning natural gas as one of the key energy sources of the 21st century. The parties also exchanged views on the current crisis in global energy markets and the role of the GECF in this context.
During the meeting, an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the 8th GECF Summit, scheduled to take place in Moscow in October, was conveyed to Secretary-General Mshelbila.
The parties emphasized the importance of non-discriminatory energy cooperation among member states and stated that external pressure on energy suppliers and consumers is unacceptable.
