Madrid, July 23 (Hibya) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez welcomed the nomination of Spain's Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Yolanda Diaz, for the position of Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Sanchez said that if Diaz is elected, it would mark the first time that both Spain and a woman would lead the ILO, describing it as a historic step for decent work and social justice.
The Prime Minister stressed that Yolanda Diaz has demonstrated strong leadership in protecting workers' rights, strengthening social dialogue, and implementing policies that promote Spain's prosperity, adding that her experience, political career, and consensus-oriented approach make her the most qualified candidate to lead the ILO.
